Volunteers
> We'd Appreciate Your Help!
|
Caring for Teens is both rewarding and demanding
for our foster parents. If you would like to help Open Door
for Teens, Inc., we have several Volunteer and Partnering
options available:
We Need:
-
Volunteers to help with up-keep of
three Foster Homes.
-
Volunteers to help with Fund-raising
Events (like our Annual Bowl-a-Thon). We also have other
events coming up in 2006. See Wheaton
Bible's CareFest 2006.
-
Christian Board Members with
Community influence. see current>>
-
Couples to Provide Respite time for
our Foster Parents to have time away alone, to rejuvenate and to
protect their marriages.
They would need to be willing to stay in the Open Door Foster Home for
overnight periods (one night to two weeks). This would provide for
periodic "Get-Aways" and vacations and is an essential element of
retaining long term Foster Parents, who live with this challenging
age-group daily.
-
Opportunities to speak to Civic
Organizations, Church Adult Sunday School classes, or any other
meetings that will provide
Open Door for Teens, Inc. with exposure. We can also provide
two seminars, one on "Early Childhood Parenting", the Other on "Setting
Limits for Your Teens."
Can We Talk? We'd Love to Share!

If you can help ODFT by
caring for Foster
Parents, or by allowing us to speak at your church, your
community
organization or other suitable venue.
If you give us a few minutes of time, we can
give
you a lot of insight into what God is working out through us.
Interested? Please contact
us.

What Does ODFT Need the Most?
Firstly, prayer. Go to our prayer
page and sign-up to receive weekly updates.
Secondly, a chance to share what we are doing - at
your
church, your community organization or other suitable venue. Then
others can come alongside and help these At-Risk Teens.
Hear the cry of the wounded:
"Remember, O LORD, what has
befallen us; look, and see our disgrace!
"Our inheritance has been turned
over to strangers, our homes to foreigners.
"We have become orphans,
fatherless; our mothers are like widows.
"We must pay for the water we
drink; the wood we get must be bought.
"Our pursuers are at our
necks; we are weary; we are given no rest."
Lamentations 5:1-5
This is the
desperation many of these children are going through.
