Prayer Needs: April 06, 2008 > Week of 4/7/08

From the Desk of Jill Keenon, Operations Director:

For this year Paul and I have taken Ephesians 6:10-18 as our key verses. It talks about putting on the whole armor of God so that you can fight the schemes of the devil. It seems that we have been caught off guard and have let small things come in to change us in a negative way, and we are ready to fight back again together.

I read an article yesterday about how weird it would be if a robber came in and all he stole was your paper towels, toilet paper and things like that. He would not be a very good robber if he did not come for the valuables. Well, this is how satan is. He plots and plans how to take the best from God and that would be us. We are God's most valuable creatures. Satan is a master thief and destroyer of valuables, us. We need to be on-guard by staying in touch with God daily through prayer and getting into His Word so we can know how to fight and allow renewal from the Lord. This is not something we can fight on our own. Just like the answer we always gave in Sunday school, the answer is always, Jesus.

QUICKS HOME:
  • We have a big mess at the house due to some outside plumbing issues. That cost is $5,500.  Recently the well pump tank broke, and it cost $700; the filter system has to be cleaned and recharged as a result of the well problem and it cost us $700 also. The work was done while the Quicks were on Spring break.
  • The whole family went to Pennsylvania this last week. Pray for them to adjust back to the home schedule.
  • I cannot stress enough for you to pray for protection for all four of the children. We all have a bad feeling about what is going on in the courts. We need to fight in the spiritual world for them.
KEENON HOME:
  • Melissa made it from Sunday to Friday before having a seizure. She is having a friend come from Ohio this coming weekend and is very afraid she will have a seizure when she is with him. She would love to be able to enjoy the weekend. Her life can get pretty boring and frustrating. Please pray she will be able to have a weekend without a seizure. I am hoping that the longer time in between means the medicine is starting to work. She is still working hard to do the right thing. To this we credit your prayers. She still needs Jesus and healing. Pray for her to be able to talk in counseling. She is also working there.
  • Matt hopes to leave here in May. Pray for that as he will be moving in with his mom. Cover them with prayer.
  • Margie has been a good example to her friend who also has fetal alcohol problems. This friend has serious social issues with men. She was here all weekend and they had a nice time. Pray for Margie to grow. In most ways she is doing well but in other ways she seems more confused when we are explaining things to her.
Paul and I need prayer for wisdom about jobs, timing, new people coming to the home and a strong bond between us. Pray we will hold on to Jesus for everything. I (Jill) used to have a much more childlike faith and lately I seem very jaded. I long for that innocence again because frankly, that kind of faith always worked.

Bowl-A-Thon May 24, 2008 - Pray for the outcome and please help if you can. It is One week after our little Hilly gets married and Jill and Hillary graduate from COD. Jill will be a nurse, and Hilly a photographer.
