Prayer Needs: March 23, 2008 > Week of 3/24/08

From the Desk of Jill Keenon, Operations Director:

The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry. The face of the Lord is against evil-doers, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. The righteous cry and the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit. (Psalms 34:15-18)

Sometimes it seems that no one ever gets better, and you wonder if the Lord is really listening. These are verses that make it very clear He is near and listens intently. I am holding on to these words from God. Jesus promises to never leave or forsake us. I believe it even when I don't feel it. This week could be a time when it appears God has not heard our cries about the kids in our home, and some of our own children, but we need to keep praying, knowing He is still listening and loves these kids more than we do.

QUICK HOME:
  1. All four of the children at the Quick's have a judge that does not seem to take in to consideration the best for the child. He seems to just want the kids off the court rolls. He does not listen to the stories behind each child. It is really strange to hear and watch because he has gone against all those involved who know the children (caseworker, foster parents, CASA worker, the child's lawyer and states attorney), and he wants to send them all home. Don't get me wrong, sometimes going home is the right thing. Sadly, the four children in this home have situations that have not been resolved or changed at all. The children would be harmed if they go home. This is a new judge and he has some kind of agenda of his own. Pray for protection for the children, wisdom for all involved and a change of heart for this judge. God says he is near the brokenhearted (these children) and will deliver them from their troubles. Pray with this in mind.

KEENON HOME:
  1. Margie seems to be happy because her family is back in town from an extended time away and they had a great Easter. God has really helped heal this family. This first year she was here her family was afraid to even have her come to their home because she was so disruptive. Now they are able to enjoy each other and she is starting to feel like she really has a family who loves her. Praise the Lord. Pray for continued healing and growth for them.
  2. Matt needs prayer for peace. He is trying really hard to do the right things and trust God but I see anxiousness in him. He is not always aware of what he is feeling and he is still at times a very hurt and confused young man. Pray for him to heal and for understanding for him.
  3. Melissa so far is not getting any change in the number or intensity of seizures from her new medicine. She is working at eating and taking her medicine correctly. Pray for her to work hard in counseling and for us to keep good boundaries so she can get a better understanding of what is appropriate behavior.
  4. Paul and I need prayer to know God's leading for each of us and to be open to change in ourselves and our ideas. God knows what he is doing in us so please pray we will be aware, willing, moldable and open to what he is doing.
The Bowl-A-Thon is May 24, 2008 – We need you please help by being a bowler/fundraiser or by giving a generous pledge. Please e-mail or call for more information.
