Prayer Needs: March 16, 2008 > Week of 3/17/08

From the Desk of Jill Keenon, Operations Director:

My good friend and I (Jill) decided that it would be a great idea if, together, we tried to memorize some verses each week. I was excited about the idea but had no idea that it would affect me so quickly. We chose Psalm 34:11-14. Specifically, there were three situations where I had rushes of emotion and my first desire was to tell others what to go and do.

Instead of acting on those emotions I could hear God's gentle Spirit remind me of these verses. They came flooding in my mind telling me to "seek peace and pursue it, keep my lips from speaking deceit and my tongue from evil." If I do this God said I will "learn the fear of the Lord and have a good long life." How I long for Paul and I to fear the Lord in every area of our lives. I do not believe God will keep us where we are, but instead He longs to change us in the innermost being.

One of the ways He is doing this in our lives is our interaction with the hurting souls in our home, our own children, people we run into at school, and business meetings. None of us can get away from people. He will continue to chip away at us as we observe what is really in our hearts by what comes out of our mouths. I was trying to be quieter all week and be purposeful about my words. The problem is no one knows what to do with me if I am not shooting off my mouth! ;) Oh, well, I will keep plodding along trying to learn how to seek peace and pursue without freaking everyone out with the hopeful changes in me!

QUICK HOME:
  1. Please pray for the situation with the baby. Decisions about her care will be made in the next two months and right now it does not look to us like it is going in the right direction. I am not at liberty to tell you all the problems but please trust us to know that it looks like satan is trying hard to sabotage the best for her.
  2. Pray for Bob, John and Pat. Pat has his own room now, so that is helping some things, but they all need prayer for a hedge of protection around their young hearts. Their lives are at a precarious point also.
  3. Pray for Allison and Will to have the peace of God and to be able to trust His will.
KEENON HOME:
  1. Seeing the doctor at the Epilepsy Clinic was very encouraging. Because of how Melissa's most severe seizures occur it looks like it may be physical as well and not just psychological. So we are on a new regime for her meds. Pray for this doctor to have God's hand on him. Both Paul and I were equally impressed with him. Unfortunately, Melissa could only focus in on getting weighed in. I have been talking to the Lord since Wednesday about some things that need to change but I don't want to fly off the handle and just react. Please pray Paul and I will both know the best thing to do with her.
  2. Margie still needs a friend.
  3. Matt needs confidence and a security that God will take care of him. He desires to do the right thing.
  4. We are talking with some people about some other folks with needs. Pray for us to have wisdom as we speak with them and what the Lord would have us do.
  5. Pray for Paul and me to be close and to be on the same page in decision making. Many decisions are coming up and we need God's wisdom not ours.
Don't forget to put the Bowl-A-Thon on your calendar and help us with our ministry: May 24, 2008!

Enjoy St. Patty's day; we will! Paul is cooking a corned beef dinner!
