Prayer Needs: November 04, 2007 > Week of 11/5/07
From the Desk of Jill Keenon, Operations Director:
"Do you believe that I am able to do this?" ( Matthew 9:28 ). Our Lord unwaveringly asks us that question, and it confronts us in every individual situation we encounter. The one great challenge to us is do I know my risen Lord? Do I know the power of His indwelling Spirit? Am I wise enough in God's sight, but foolish enough according to the wisdom of the world, to trust in what Jesus Christ has said? Or am I abandoning the great supernatural position of limitless confidence in Christ Jesus, which is really God's only call for a missionary? If I follow any other method, I depart altogether from the methods prescribed by our Lord "All authority has been given to Me
. Go therefore
" ( Matthew 28:18-19 ) - Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest I just came out of Paul's office where I was crying. Sometimes as humans we just can't organize our thoughts to do one thing at a time. My mind was racing, and I could not focus. I will spare you the details of my issues because I know you have your list of your own. The quote above from Oswald Chambers becomes the heart of any anxiety. Do we believe God can do something about our, simple, as well as complex problems? The answer in our souls needs to be an unequivocal, YES! All authority was given to Jesus. This authority is for our use to bring God glory. Let's take advantage of what God has given us and take one problem at a time and know God is able. COLOMA PLACE: - There are interested parties. Pray for finances and details to come into focus and make the sale final.
QUICKS BOYS HOME: - We will call the new boy Bob. Bob is very social and polite. This will allow for some hurt to be hidden because he makes friends easy and seems to adapt. Pray for Allison and Will to be able to discern when he needs a hug and listening ear.
- Your prayers are working for Pat. He is starting to show signs of growth. He likes being at the Quick's and starting to feel like they are family. No matter how long a child stays in a home it is nice for them to feel a sense of the comfort of home. Pray the growth continues.
- Adorable baby still needs prayer but is in good health and could use the permanency of the Quicks.
KEENON HOME: - Margie had her first driver's ed lesson and did great. It was fun to see her take this step. We are going to let the instructor let us know if and when Margie is ready to take a driving test. The instructor seemed to have a handle on what Margie's problems are and what to work on. Pray for safety and wisdom.
- Pray for Joel as his new schedule is somewhat awkward. Pray for him to be able to organize his time because it is harder when things are chopped up. We talked to him about some things he could do for some concerns he has and he is going to try and implement them. Pray for him to be able to make the changes he thinks would benefit a lot of areas in his life.
- Melissa's ECT has made her mood lighter and her suicidal thoughts and her seizures have stopped. She still feels somewhat depressed but the doctor said that once again if the eating problem is not under control they cannot do anymore ECT and the seizures can come back, she will have to have a feeding tube and/or go into the eating disorder unit. Melissa does not seem to get this. Pray for her to eat, share her fears with us and believe Jesus is her Savior.
- Matt is doing well but he is always struggling with past habits. He tries hard to put rules around his behaviors so he can make it. He has asked us to take an active part in controlling his temptations. Pray for him to have the Lord's strength.
- Last semester was very easy and this semester is much more normal which means HARD. Pray for me to have clear thinking.
- This Friday is supposed to be our "Virtual Golf Marathon" celebration. Pray more golfer/fundraisers come forward. I have not heard from very many. It is a vital fundraiser and accounts for a large part of our annual budget.
Life goes on even if we don't have money to be comfortable. We will persevere in His love and in His timing. Thanks everyone.
