Prayer Needs: October 14, 2007 > Week of 10/15/07

From the Desk of Jill Keenon, Operations Director:

I have been reading in Genesis the last few days, and it has made me focus on prayer. In the beginning there was nothing. There was a void but as soon as God spoke light came into being. Just as any idea we have starts out as nothing and becomes something as we create it with our words.

God was very specific in his words. When he made the waters he said, "Let there be space in between the waters to separate them." Then it was so -just as our desires and ideas placed in God's hands should be specific. If there needs to be a change in our thinking God will do it but otherwise I think he gives us latitude to create on our own for we are made in his image. So often people tell me that I am not logical about some things but I believe that if it is not wrong it is okay for me to pray what ever I think is best, and God will redirect me as needed.

All this to say, I am praying for the Coloma Place to sell this week. I know there is the perfect family to come in and buy this home. God set up prayer to be a part of his plan so I think it is silly and lack of faith to always say, "if it is God's will." This does not mean I don't want God's will or that I don't know that his thoughts our higher than my thoughts but he uses us somehow by having us pray so I am going to do the job He has assigned me.

COLOMA PLACE:
  1. Pray for the home to sell quickly (Thanks to our realtor, Beth Lindner, we feel very ready for the sale)
  2. Praise the Lord how it got all fixed up so fast and it looks great. If anyone is looking for a house this is a nice one.
QUICKS BOYS HOME:
  1. Allison and Will our still waiting on one of the boys to come. It looks like it will be happening but timing is being worked out. Pray for him as he changes foster homes and for him to feel welcomed and at home quickly.
  2. Pray for Pat's adjustment to a new boy. He has never had anyone there for very long since he has been a foster son.
  3. Pray for the baby.
KEENON HOME:
  1. Melissa had her third ECT today. Pray for it to have some effect on her depression. So far nothing has happened but it is not expected for three or four treatments. Pray she will eat in order to heal.
  2. Margie had her friends over for the weekend. As much as she has grown if we had not been here to guide her, twice she almost made some really poor decisions to do some pretty stupid things. She needs prayer to trust her instincts and not give in to peer pressure. She knows what to do but cannot say no. Pray for growth in this area.
  3. Pray for Joel as he adjusts to his new job and college schedule, and for him to stay strong.
  4. Continue to pray for Matt as he makes decisions and works on his boundary issues.
  5. We will have our First Annual "Virtual Golf" Outing coming up soon. Pray for a few sizable, as well as, many smaller pledges of gifts. We realize the timing is off, due to the appeal we did for special needs just a month ago, and the year-end giving season is in December. It is critical need to have good outcomes for these fundraising efforts.
Enjoy the week. Thanks for caring.
