Prayer Needs: July 15, 2007 > Week of 7/16/07

From the Desk of Jill Keenon, Operations Director:

This week has been a one of reflection for me. Just about every year I reread a book I have mentioned in the past about being thankful for all things and realizing God is at the heart of it all using all circumstances for good. The reason I resurrected the book at this time was my reaction to Melissa in my life. Paul lets me be me 99% of the time but on Sunday I got a little out of hand and he called me on how I was speaking to her. I proceeded to tell him he had no idea what I was going through and rationalization after rationalization came out of me in very angry tones.

In the middle of it all I stopped talking and told him I understood what I was doing and I was very sorry. In James the Word speaks of how cursing and blessing come out of the same mouth and how that should not be. In Mark, Jesus tells how it is not what goes into the man that defiles him but what is coming out of his mouth showing what is in his heart that defiles him. How sad it was for me to see how my heart is still so desperately wicked. Once I confessed my sin the Lord forgave me, just like he says in the book of James, and I was reminded that He promises to even use Melissa, my wicked heart, and any other of the dozen things that have gone a rye in the last few months for good, because I love Him.

COLOMA PLACE:
1.       Pray for the Dyers while they are on their mission's trip in India for the people they are ministering to and for safety.
2.       Pray for Sue as she needs to find a new home by September.

QUICKS HOME:
3.       Pray for the situation with their foster baby, for God's protection and provision for what is best for the child.
4.       Pray for Pat as still nothing much is being done to stimulate a response to get the help his family needs to get back together. He is growing this summer and having a great time. He needs prayer for starting high school in the fall. He is very immature and he could be eaten alive in the halls from kids who are not kind.

KEENON HOME:
5.       Melissa's grandma will probably die this week and she has not been able to visit her due to her increased seizures. She has been very impacted by this dying process and thinks of heaven and reads books on heaven. She is very fearful to accept Jesus because her friends have warned her the whole time she has lived with us that we will convert her and Christianity is stupid at the very least . Pray for reality to be understood. We don't care what the friends think, she needs Jesus. Her seizures are every two or three days lately. Please pray for her and thank God for her just as she is so that she will be drawn to Him for her strength and salvation.
6.       Margie has been doing the neurotherapy for months now and is almost done. I think it has helped but I would like her to do more. She is tired of the cost and would like to take driving lessons. Pray for her to do the right thing and to be encouraged to move forward and be able to lose the weight for her health.
7.       We still need a car or two. We are okay until I have to start school again in August.  Two of three cars engines blew in one week.
8.       I would really like to have our priorities evaluated, the house organized, and a routine in place before I go back to school. Last year was way too crazy for me. I am okay with crazy but I know the level that keeps me interested -and the level that crosses over to crazy-making and last year was crazy-making. I realize that even though we have usually good boundaries we have allowed others to tug at heart strings that were manipulative in nature rather than always God directed. I just want to be sure everything we do is from not God and not our Savior complex.
9.       Joel just had a trip from New York for school and came back safe. Pray for him as he finishes his courses this summer and for him to stay the course with Jesus.
10.   The young man living with us is doing well. Pray for him to flee temptation and to be wise as he starts spending time with old friends. Pray for God's protection as he learns new skills in relating to others positively.
11.   Pray for Paul and me to be strong in the Lord, our relationship, in prayer and thanksgiving and to hear what the Lord has to say and to trust Him with all our hearts.
12.   Finances for Open Door are at a crisis point. Pray for some break through.

Have a great week--
