Prayer Needs: May 13, 2007 > Week of 5/14/07

From the Desk of Jill Keenon, Operations Director:

How is God moving this week in your life? I was at lunch today with a young man who helped renew my faith in the power of God though the Holy Spirit that indwells us at the very moment we accept the precious blood sacrifice as an atonement for our lack of holiness, thoughtlessness, and outright sinfulness. Jesus bears the cost of my sin, and that is the good news.
In Isaiah it says, "Your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God. And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear". If that is the case then how can He hear our prayer or see our face? The Holy Spirit has sealed us unto redemption. "He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come." 2 Cor 1:21-22. That anointing and sealing is the trick!
My friend and I shared our feelings of pride and sometimes trying to get others down to our level or to try to feel up to their level. We learned together that we are no better than satan (never capitalize this creep's name) who committed the first sin, the one that appears to be the foundation for all other sins. He wanted to be God in charge of his own life (pride) and therefore usurp God's position.

As my son, Clayton, put it this last Sunday in his sermon to Student Body, we choose, as satan did, to go to hell because we choose to control our own lives and forsake God's direction. My friend and I realized our propensity to this. God sealed us regardless of our pride, and we can will our will all we want or follow what satan did, and we will still be in God's house for eternity. Praise the living God who became man and died for my pride!

Keenon Home
  • I listed our home first because some of the other prayer requests depend on our requests to understand the Dyers and Quicks prayers:
  • We will be leaving on Friday for a two week vacation. Thank God a ministry in Durango Colorado that provides for missionaries and pastors to have respite from the pressure of our ministries. When we planed this trip gas didn't cost so much. Now, to get there and back it will cost a little less than half of the cash we had planned to spend for the entire vacation! The rest will go for food and hotels there and back. It will be tight but we will have fun, alone!
  • Now, because we are going, that leaves many logistical problems for all three homes. Pray this can all be worked out by Friday.
  • Melissa had two more seizures this week after she got out of the hospital. We didn't accomplish much by her going to the hospital. She needs to be stable by Friday because she will be staying with Will and Allison Quick at the Morse St. Home because of her eating disorder. Someone has to make sure she eats. They will be taking on the responsibility. Melissa's urinary tract infection was healed, but she is still having problems relieving herself. This is a major problem.
  • Molly, Joel and Carmen with her children will be here at our home. This is going to be a test as well. They all have their unique problems with each other, but they are all adults and should be able to work it for two weeks.
  • Keano will also be going to stay with Will and Allison. He will be no trouble for them. He has a solid relationship with them and loves them. He is having bedwetting problems and will be going to Project Serve with us soon, but he got a nasal spray for it, and it is working well.
  • Praise God! He also worked out a plan with his mom, our daughter Madison, to see her more often. He was able to express his missing her and his insecurity about living with us. He wants her but he wants to live with us forever. Remember he is just eight years old.
Coloma Pl. Home
  • The Dyers are working hard to raise money for their mission's trip to India. Pray that all the funding they need comes in. They are having a fundraising dinner this Friday.
  • Sue, who lives with the Dyers, has a daughter who is doing an internship in the area. She will need a place to stay, and we are trying to work out the particulars for her to stay at the Coloma Place House. Pray we can work out expectations, financial arrangements, and living arrangements in the house.
Quick's Morse St. Home
  • You read our prayer requests above, need to say more? They will have Keano, Pat, Hanna, and Melissa at their home. The challenges are getting Melissa to eat and take her meds, knowing what to do if she has a seizure, all the challenges of a foster baby and governmental regulations that go with that, Pat's behavior and Keano's added needs.
  • Last, but very important: Jill spent Mother's Day and all day today studying. She is much challenged with all that we have been and will need to do before we leave. We just had a graduation party for Marta and Al graduating from Wheaton College. Jill must get a very high grade to bring up her grade from a disappointing test a week ago. Please pray for her, Joel and Hilly to finish strong.
