Prayer Needs: January 21, 2007 > Week of 1/22/07

From the Desk of Jill Keenon, Operations Director:

By now you all know that I am a little weird, so don't discount what I am going to say because of that. I have a small book on some psychological reasons that we could have illnesses. I do not believe that every sickness is the cause of sin or anything like that, but there is definitely a body/mind connection.

Well, since Thursday I had vertigo and could not get things to stop spinning if I moved the wrong way. So, I looked up this in my little book and a few other things that I struggle with physically and (what a surprise!) they all had something to do with being in "control."

The Lord has really been convicting me gently but persistently about my control issue. I think that if I don’t do it all then others will be disappointed, or I will let others down. Then that addressed my need for approval. Either way I need to let God be in control. I spent some time just laying still so things would not spin and really prayed to let the Lord be in control. I spoke words that released my spirit to trust and be reassured that God loves me and he is in control. I am delusional thinking I am in control in the first place. This will be a rough road but I hope a big change is ahead. I am tired of spinning out of control.

COLOMA PLACE HOME
  • Ravi is going to India on Thursday on a mission trip. Pray for his safety and to be able to minister to the people he will be serving.
  • Pray for Esther to have healing time with Sue. Pray for a calm time without Ravi.
QUICK HOME
  • Pat is showing signs at school just like at home. He is failing classes and fooling around. He had to drop band because he is not doing well academically. Pray for him to care. He may have to repeat 8th grade if he does not improve.
KEENON HOME
  • Melissa is going to try and do some counseling with me. Pray I have wisdom. She also seems to be getting sick, and I fear for her. Pray for her to stay well so she can heal.
  • Joel, Jill and Hilly started back at school. Please pray for the ability to do our best. Margie starts the “zapping” this week. Pray for healing.
  • Paul has an abscessed tooth. Pray for him. It seems to have been one thing after another for him this year. He is in a lot of pain and had to wait because it was the weekend. Pray for healing.
  • Paul continues to minister to teen boys and has had a very active time with several over the holiday break. Several of these are college students who are now back at college. Pray for those teens and for those that remain here and are in high school. Many are just teens who need Christian adult friends who can help them with being a positive example, some need much more. He has finished helping a young 24 year old man get his driver's license before he returned to college. Others need advice about spiritual things or how to get along with parents and peers.
  • We also have two new families we are working with. Pray for them as we begin the process anew. Pray they will apply what they learn. This is not always easy and often takes a lot of discipline which is a big part of what has been missing in the first place.
