Prayer Needs: January 14, 2007 > Week of 1/14/07
From the Desk of Jill Keenon, Operations Director:
I have been thinking a lot about the fruits of the Spirit listed in Galatians lately. One of the ones that I have had trouble believing that I possess, as well as Paul, is gentleness. We have been told we are very straight shooting people, which is another term for tactless. Being honest and forthright is a natural thing for us. This is good and bad, people appreciate the truth, but we can be a little on the rough side. For the last couple of years I have noticed a much gentler side of Paul and the other day I stepped outside myself for a moment and watched us interact all day. I was shocked to see that we both are much gentler with each other; this causes a stronger bond between us. That is how the Holy Spirit works, without our doing. As I observed this process, I realized that I love Paul more all the time. When he went away this weekend, on the youth retreat with Wheaton Bible Church's Student Body, I did not want him to go. I always wanted him to go before because even though I respected, loved and liked him, he drove me crazy. But not lately! This made me realize why Satan tries so hard to destroy marriages through simple things like not talking kindly to one another or not being gentle with each other. God set up marriage to represent Christ and His bride the church. An amazing thing has happened, as I learn to love Paul more, I am able to accept Gods love more and I believe it because of how Paul treats me. It is interesting how God knew what He was doing.
COLOMA PLACE HOME - We had a good meeting with the Dyers and Sue. They were each able to say what they wanted and express misunderstandings and hurt feelings. Pray for healing for some of the mistrust and forgiveness in full. Pray Satan is not allowed to destroy a good thing in this home. May the Lords peace prevail!
QUICK HOME - Pat is back a school. Pray for him to become diligent in his studies and start to be motivated to do what is right without the threat of a discipline. Pray he will enjoy accomplishment for what it is.
KEENON HOME - Margie had a great birthday. Pray for this year to be another stepping stone of growth for her. I think I found a neuro-therapist that is closer to our home. This would be great for her to get more zapping done in a shorter amount of time.
- Melissa spent some time with me this weekend that was good, but then last night she cut herself really badly, and I told her to clean it up because I will not fix her messes. She wont work on why she cuts, but wants help when she feels bad. She only wants a quick fix. So, now she has pulled away again. I get tired of being tested. Pray for her to have a miracle.
- Joel comes home on Wednesday. Pray for his safe travel from Mexico and as he starting back at school (COD). Pray for us to know what he needs from us while he is here.
- Carmen and the kids are doing well here. It feels like a good fit. Pray for her to accept the healing she needs. Pray they all turn to Jesus for help as well as finding the resources she needs for her little family.
- I start school on Thursday. It has been a great month off but already I see that I am getting anxious because I don't feel organized enough. There are a lot of people in and out of this office in our home, and I get overwhelmed trying to complete a thought, but I want to be gentle and kind, not reactionary. I also want to be able to keep up the healthier lifestyle I have established while on break. It has really helped me be able to think more clearly. I dont want school to interfere with my role as mother, grandmother, wife and friend. Pray for wisdom and priorities.
