Prayer Needs: August 20, 2006 > Week of 8/21/06

From the Desk of Jill Keenon, Operations Director:

In Hebrews 12:28-29 it says, “Let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with a holy fear and awe. For our God is a consuming fire." Hebrews 13:5-6 says, “I will never fail you, I will never forsake you. That is why we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

The first part lets us know that God is an awesome God and should be praised and feared with reverence. But that same power is turned around to help us, and we should be able to feel confident in this because of who God is and what He has told us He would do for us. The word "never" is used too quickly by us and others when we say things like, “I never do that” or “You never say anything nice.” But when God says never, He means it. He does not lie or exaggerate anything. When He says He will never fail us or forsake us he means NEVER. So, no matter how bad you think you have been or how much you messed up or the situation you are in seems hopeless you need to remember He said NEVER.

COLOMA PLACE HOME
  • We have not set one up yet but we will be having a board meeting soon to discuss this home. Pray for us to all come to an agreement about what the Lord would want.
QUICK HOME
  • Once again the Quicks got asked to take four siblings, but they have not heard anymore on that. Lord, show us what we are to do.
KEENON HOME
  • The reason I wrote the above verses is because I needed them today. Bonnie has decided that we have been ripping her off all these years, and I had to provide to the caseworker proof of what we did with all clothing money for four years. There were other accusations about what we have not let Bonnie do and the bottom line is in my heart I know we have done right by her. I feel very sad because at this point trust on both sides is damaged. I cannot live in my own home feeling this way. We have given her an ultimatum to trust us or move out. She has chosen to move. Pray that this relationship can be healed and that she will be able to leave with a better attitude. This is so disappointing.
On the other hand, I think we held on too long because of our fear for her if she was on her own. She is very immature about many things not the least is handling her money. It is time for her to go, but I hate for it to be this way. She does not see her actions as a problem. While we were gone she spent the clothing money I gave her, plus a complete paycheck she was supposed to use to pay for that huge (thousands of dollars) phone bill she is still trying to pay off. She also got a tongue-piecing, two new phones (she lost the first one she bought) plus going out on the town. The dentist has told her not to get mouth piercing because she is prone to gingivitis, which can cause heart attacks. So, now she doesn't have enough money to pay the agreement we have with the phone company for this month. But I'm the one who “can't be trusted!”

No, I am not bitter yet - but if I don’t catch myself soon I will be. You better pray for me.
  • Melissa is getting her brain treatments but is still not eating. Please continue to pray for her. I have taken my hands off as far as trying to get her to eat. It was becoming a wedge, and we don’t want to be jailers. She has to decide to do this on her own.
  • Joel, Hillary and I will be starting school this week. Please pray for all of us. I am so excited though to be actually starting the nursing part of all the schooling I have been doing.
  • My mom is adjusting very well to her new place, and I am happy for her and am doing better about it.
  • Keano starts second grade on Wednesday. He had a great summer of learning. Please pray he will see himself as smart and capable. Pray he makes good, healthy friends.
  • Our daughter Marta and her husband, Al moved in last week. I love having them here. Pray for the adjustment for all. We are back to ten people in our home and about a dozen animals.
It is good to be back. Hope you are all doing well.
