Prayer Needs: July 23, 2006 > Week of 7/24/06

From the Desk of Jill Keenon, Operations Director:

I am a big proponent of the idea that life has to be lived one day at a time just like Jesus taught. Not that I can do it consistently, but when I do, life is a lot calmer. Even though the medicine is helping my depression, I still am dealing with some real issues. Having my mom in the nursing home is much harder than I ever thought, and Melissa is a real stressor for me. I have trouble not worrying about her, and she makes me mad and my emotional eating is still driving me crazy. So, I was venting to my heathen sister and I asked her how her recovering alcoholic husband did it.
She simply said, "One day at a time." That jolted me back to the truth. God uses everyone. Since that day that is what I have been doing again. It is so much simpler and I have had peace. The reason it works is because when you think ahead or to the past your mind is everywhere. The "one day at a time" makes it so you focus on the Lord in that moment and when your mind wonders you simply thank the Lord that this is the only day that you know you can count on and for him to help you live it for him. There comes a sweet communion with him you can not have when your mind is every where else.

QUICKS HOME
  • Allison and Will are taking Keano for three weeks to a Christian camp her brother runs in Pennsylvania. We will be on our vacation during two of those weeks. He is excited and really likes them. Pray for all of them when he starts to miss home. Pray it is one of those times kids remember all of their lives when they get to be with aunts and uncles in the summer. Pray for safety as they travel.

KEENON HOME
  • I am concerned with leaving Margie home with Bonnie when we are gone for those two weeks. Pray for us to figure out the best plan for them. Bonnie will try and do things wrong and Margie will feel trapped. Margie also may get lonely.
  • I am very excited about the new treatments Melissa is going to start. We have more tests this week and then a plan will be formed. They are seeing a big connection to her seizures with all her other problems. Which make sense but no one has ever put them together for her. Her mother may be hurt by not being able to come out to do the test with her but it is better if she is not with Melissa. Melissa is still dealing with the turtle being gone and how God answers prayer. Pray for her heart to be open. She is such a taker that I feel like she will only want God for her wants to be met and then not need Him anymore. Pray for me to have the right words to explain some of the God stuff when we spend a lot of time together while going to the tests I mentioned this week.
  • Please lift up our children who struggle without God. Pray they will turn to him for the love they seek and the healing they need.
  • Please pray for my mom and for me to be able to go see her without so much stress. Pray I will know she is better off their. I can’t let go of the guilt. I know it is not founded but it is strong.

Enjoy today.
