From the Desk of Jill Keenon, Operations Director:
"Rest in the Lord." What is that?
Depression has gotten a hold of me and robbed me of my ability to rest in any
fashion. Then guilt comes (or should I say demonic teasing) and tells
me what a failure as a Christian I am because I have no faith. I know
where my depression stems from, and I am taking care of it but in the
meantime while it is still present I will thank the Lord for it because
it is causing me to run to Him.
There is nowhere I would rather be than in his arms.
There is no shame in needing God. He is there for the broken hearted.
If I don't go through some of these hard times there is no way not to
be self-righteous with the people God puts in our path to help. I need
to understand their hurt and what seems like the inability to change or
heal. We are never stuck in the same place forever.
My sadness seems overwhelming at times but deep inside I
still have the peace of knowing He is with me. I think that is the
difference for a believer. Praise His Holy Name. It has been over a
month since we have touched base in prayer.
That is too long.............! We need you!
COLOMA PLACE
- Still the same condition of waiting. Ask God for wisdom.
QUICK HOME
- During this month Allison and Will had two sisters, 12 and 13 come into the home while their mother went to jail.
It looked like a good fit until the older girl attacked and threatened
Allison. Unfortunately, they had to be moved because of the threatening
manner of the attack. This made us sad because we knew the family and
really wanted to help them. Pray for the two girls as well their mom
and extended family. There are some believers in the family. They need
some changes to be made and some big intervention to help stop the
acting out of the girls.
- Pray for someone else to come for help. There have been so many possibilities but nothing seems to stick. It is confusing.
KEENON HOME
- Melissa is getting worse with her eating disorder.
Pray for protection from herself until we can get these doctor
appointments finished. We are having trouble arranging the next two
appointments. Pray for answers to all this. She just had a bad accident
with her car. What she does to her body is scary.
- Bonnie needs a new job. She is with her job
coach right now looking. Also, she still lies to us about important
things. Pray for her to be convicted about this habit and to change.
- Margie is okay but is lonely. I feel sad for
her. I don't really know what to do for her socially because she is
awkward to be with and that is why she can't make friends. This is not
going to change.
- Joel and Paul went on project serve with our church for two weeks in Idaho.
Then Joel went on a family vacation. He is back now and will start
settling in more. Pray for his adjustment to this home. He does have a
car that someone donated to Open Door. That was a very quick answer to
prayer.
- Please pray for my depression. I am doing what I
should to deal with it but it is very heavy and I need to continue to
give up many things to the Lord because I am still trying to do it all.
I have meds and people to talk to. But, as I walk through this I want
to be faithful.
- Pray for Madison. She just called and has gone
in to the hospital to have he fifth baby. If you are unaware she is
giving up her two twins to our daughter Jeni and her husband Mark who
have two children of their own. They will take custody of the twins in
August until the time comes when Madison and Jerry can care for them.
As you know, we have custody of Keano, Madisons oldest son. He is
missing the other kids and his mom very much this week.
- Pray for McKenzie. She is having a very
upsetting week. She asked that we not divulge the problems to even her
siblings. They are not life-threatening.
We hope you are all doing well. I lift you all up to the Lord and ask Him to bless you.
