Prayer Needs: April 30, 2006 > For the Week of 5/1/06

From the Desk of Jill Keenon, Operations Director:

This weekend, Keano went to go see his mom. Everything had been going a little better with his mom and step-dad, but I usually assume something will happen. Well, it did. Jerry totaled the car while drunk and did not even get a DUI.

They also trashed a car we gave his mom on one of her "escapes from Jerry" farces. So, they have no car. Once again who is going to the ghetto to get our grandson? I was so angry I was spitting fire. I had a great speech about how you don’t have to be a victim anymore, and I was really ticked about giving her that car she trashed when I could have given it to someone else who would use it.

As you probably could figure, by the time I got to the city I thought about all the things that God has given me, and I trashed or complained about it not being what I want. The Holy Spirit gave me the grace and mercy to do what needed to be done and things were fine. The kicker though was what Keano said on the way home.

First he said that he was very glad to be back. Then we were listening to the Christian radio and on came a commercial that said if you look at your life and think that it will never get better and that what has happened to you is the worse thing ever, you are giving your pain too much power.

Keano simply said, “My mom needs to hear this.” I was blown away by his wisdom. Out of the mouths of babes!

COLOMA PLACE HOME

  • Carefest volunteers from our church will be doing work on the Coloma and Quick’s homes this coming Saturday. Pray all goes well and that the weather will be conducive to working outside.
  • Pray for the families who will live in the home soon.

QUICKS HOME

  • We will be interviewing a girl to come in June. Pray for wisdom and patient with a counselor who already it is obvious that she coddles the girl.
  • Pray for anyone else who should come into the home.

KEENON HOME

  • Margie is once again on the moving kick. It is so hard to get her to stay focused on anything. Pray for the Lord’s will because there is a group home that could place her in June. Her parents are just not sure this would be right for her.
  • Bonnie is doing well healing from the gum surgery. She is having a conflict with her best friend. Pray they can resolve it. She also has an eye opening in regards to her walk with the Lord. Pray it will continue to grow in her.
  • Melissa – pray, pray, pray for her to have her eyes opened. She is blind to so many things.
  • My mom leaves in a month. Pray for me. Too many emotions going round and round.

FINAL REQUESTS

We have decisions to make about the summer. Please pray for us to be able to do the best for all.

Enjoy the beautiful colors all around us and praise the Lord for them.
