Prayer Needs: Week of 4/14/08 > Week of 4/14/08
From the Desk of Jill Keenon, Operations Director:
Yesterday in church the pastor spoke on 1 Peter 4:10-12. While I was reading along it was if the words jumped off the page. The words "manage, with strength and energy" seemed like they were all written in bold. They related to how we are to use our spiritual gifts. The gifts are given to us to manage. But the cool thing was that if we did the managing as well as possible God promises that His generosity will flow out of us and he supplies the strength and the energy. So, all we have to do is be willing and be open to what it is we are assigned to do then He does the rest. I know this is very simple, and we all know it, but take a minute and think about what it really means. What are your gifts? If you don't seem to have a generous heart about them, and you have no strength or energy then chances are you are not managing them well. This would include getting yourself fed with God's word, resting in Him, time with others to hold you accountable, just believing He is the one providing it all and enjoying your gifts. Life should be fun even when it is hard. If you are doing what God made you to do you will know it and life is very exciting. Grab hold of His generosity, strength, and energy and go for it! QUICK HOME: - I could describe Pat, Bob, John and the baby's different lives but this week they all still need the same thing. They need protection from a wrong decision about where they should live because a judge has an agenda. It just appears that in spite of a lot of people making recommendations to stay at the Quick's, the judge does not listen. Sometimes we do think the children should go home but none of these look like it would be a good thing. Please pray that satan is bound and that these children will have a hedge of protection around them.
KEENON HOME: - Matt wants to move out to his mom's in May. Pray for this situation. We don't know if it is a good thing or not for any involved. It makes no difference to us personally, but we don't know if the family relationships are ready to try again.
- We have a few people who may want to come to the house. Pray for us to have wisdom.
- Melissa seems to be having longer time between seizures. She had no seizures this weekend and she had a lot of fun with a friend from Ohio. We were really happy for her. Pray the medicine continues to work for her.
- Please pray for us because this last week Paul and I kept getting blind-sided by things that appeared to come out of the blue. They were: Jill's mom's nursing home said they might ask her to move out because of new policy, Paul had a bad car accident (he is OK), Jill was confronted in public by a family member (on her side of the family) who has caused problems in the past and a few other smaller things. But it just was clear this week that your life can change in a second. So, please pray for our protection from satan and to stand tall with Jesus together.
- Please pray for us with the details of school, home, and Hilly's wedding.
Bowl-A-Thon bowler/fundraisers are needed! Several ageing but faithful bowlers are not able to bowl any more. This leaves another gap in fundraising.
