From the Desk of Jill Keenon, Operations Director:
Psalm 5:3 "In the morning, O Lord, Thou wilt hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to Thee and eagerly watch."
I like this because it shows the process. Each morning we are to recognize that the day belongs to God and we pray for our needs for the day ahead and then our job is not to worry but to eagerly watch for the Lord's answer. This is what we have done with the needs at Open Door; we have eagerly watched for the Lord to answer, and He always has.
Coloma Place home sold yesterday. This has bittersweet feelings for all of us. We had a fleece out to the Lord and He made it clear by getting us a buyer. We now will call out to Jesus each morning and ask for direction. The other two homes are full of people and ministry, but as usual Paul and I have many ideas of what the 'next step' could be that would help others the most. Pray with us to not jump ahead of the Lord and to see each step He lays ahead of us.
COLOMA PLACE HOME:
Please pray that all the details come together. It is a cash sale with a closing of Feb. 28.
QUICK BOYS HOME:
Pat may have an overnight visit with his mom. He already is having longer visits with her. This would seem good except she has not done one thing to change the relationship habits that got this mother and son in this position. Pat has done a lot of changing. Pray this will not be wasted.
Continue to pray for the baby and the ongoing foster and custody situation.
Bob and John need continued prayer for how they interact and patience for Allison and Will.
KEENON HOME:
Matt got a job, is in school and purchased a car (but he can't drive it yet). These are big answers to prayer. Now he really needs pray about getting his license back. It has been a huge red tape mess on many levels. Pray for his patience and for it all to fall into place. God knows the timing.
Margie is trying to work on some feeling issues and apparently Jill makes her mad a lot. Go figure! How I could be irritating is beyond me. ;) Anyway, help Margie work through things and pray for an appropriate outlet. Pray for her to have friends too.
Melissa is going into the University of Chicago Hospital for a week long EEG in order for the doctor to get her to have a seizure so they can find out how to help her. Pray for her fears and for them to figure it out. Pray for her spiritually as well. Paul and I have had very open discussions with her as of late. Paul will have to be with her all day tomorrow after taking another woman to the doctor in Melrose Park. He may need to spend most of the week down at the University of Chicago Hospital.
Every week we will probably ask for prayer as Jill finishes school (15 weeks left!). She had bad Senioritis last semester and this semester she wants to be back in top form and end well. Pray for her to get a job, too. Pray for Paul at home picking up even more slack with the kids at home because of Jill's heavier load this semester. It has been hard for him to get his work done because he is doing so much of what use to be Jill's work during the day.
Please pray for Keano and school work. He needs help in many areas but is a great reader so that should help him in all the weak areas.
Thanks as always and remember if you pray right now God hears, it is done and you don't have to feel guilty if you forget to pray more this week.
