Prayer Needs: Week of 12/31/07 > Week of 12/31/07
From the Desk of Jill Keenon, Operations Director:
I had no idea today was New Years Eve, although, it fits with my pensive mood. I am thinking about change and what better time than the New Year. I am not sure if what I am about to say will make sense but I will try. As foster parents we have a lot of different people enter our lives, and everyone who does changes us in some way. I am sure that the people in your life change you. But sometimes that change is not for the better. I personally believe that with each of us comes good and evil forces and depending on if we are astute at the time whether we let only the good influence us. In the last few years some folks have come into our lives and two things that I don't like have been allowed to come to the surface. First, some of the people have generated a more angry response, more often than I can ever remember, from me. The second is a loosening of what we allow to be said in our home. I have disdain for both. Lately, I have been pondering all of this and went to my knees and realized that I no longer want to allow either to control us any longer. I have actually tried to control some of the negative things myself, and it was to no avail. My knees are the right place to find the answer. Only Jesus really does any real changing. So, as of Friday, I personally have once again decided who I want in control of our home and my own life and no longer will I just give lip service to trusting Jesus. Satan is so subtle but he is also stupid and I finally caught on to this latest scheme he loses again. Thank you, Jesus. So, those are my New Year's thoughts. I hope you have a great 2008. COLOMA PLACE: The market is still in a slump. So, let's pray for a buyer as a nice New Year's surprise. It is the perfect home for someone. QUICK HOME: I, (Jill) had lunch with Allison today and she said they are doing well but she is really tired. They went from a family with one foster boy to a home with four children, a baby, two ten year old boys and a 14 year old boy. So life as they knew it is no more. Pray for their endurance and the ability to rejuvenate. The new boy, John, is quite spoiled and keeps pushing when he does not get his way. They have had to be tough on him right away because he does not seem to hear the word no. Pray for the adjustment with him. He does not seem all the worse for wear, but we all know that is not true. Bob, the not quite so new boy is actually doing well and responds nicely to structure and seems to like it there. Pray for him as in the next few months he will be visiting mom with the intention of going home. Pat is really starting to grow and becoming a good example as the oldest. Although, he is meeting with his mom who has not done any of the plans to get him home, there is rumor that he may go home by end of school year. Pray for the right decision to be made. He has made a lot of progress it would be a shame to go right back to the same situation. Keep praying for the baby, please. KEENON: Matt is working on getting a car, his license back, and moving in the near future. If probation does not give the go ahead he will have to stay with us a little longer. Pray for what God would know is best. Margie is on vacation, and frankly, she is driving us nuts. She definitely needs to keep busy. She goes back Wednesday. She seems to be more irritable lately. Pray for her to get some friends. She is so bored. She needs good people in her life. Melissa crossed a line on Sunday with something she said. She has no concept of what she did because to her it was just saying the wrong thing, but there was so much more. It would take too long to explain but please pray for us as we try to explain why it was such a big deal. She is not very aware of right versus wrong. Her parents and sister are coming on Thursday. Pray for healing in the family. This is their first attempt in years for them to try having some fun time together. Thanks as always for listening and praying.
