From the Desk of Jill Keenon, Operations Director:
Some of my thoughts for this week are still about taming the tongue.
Turkey day will be good for the tongue.
I will use my tongue to be thankful.
I have not liked myself lately because of my tongue. Man, it is a constant battle. Today at school some girl said something about me having a senior moment, and I told her I was going to punch her. Of course I was kidding, but she was bugging me. How can I be Jesus to them when I can be such a jerk? We laughed, and it was all good but I knew my heart. Can you relate?
So, for Thanksgiving this year we can thank God for another chance to be a blessing instead of a curse. He is soooooooo patient and kind. I WANT TO BE KIND!
Prayer requests:
- Pray for selling of Coloma Place
- Pray for Melissa as she has shared some hurt that helps explain some things and she has said she will go to counseling. I found one. Pray it is the start to healing this sweet girl who hurts so deeply. Her seizures are increasing again. Pray for the right doctors and that she will eat. She has really been trying.
- The Quicks are out of town with all three kids. Pray for safety in travel and a sense of family time.
- Matt needs a new job. His temporary job at Tyndale is completed. If you know of a job for a young man please call.
- Pray for Thanksgiving Day for all of us and yourself. It is can be a great day or horrible. Let's ask God for a blessing.
Remember last week I, Paul, mentioned my concern over not having heavy emotional feelings in light of the trauma we endure in our family on a regular basis. I asked "if I was anesthetized?"
To me the answer is that God has prepared us. He called me and our family, with all the trauma, abuse, and sickness, to do His will. He has given us protection from absorbing all the vitriolic behaviors and attitudes we must live with. He has promised us that He would not challenge us with anything we can not handle with His power. We have His power. We must call on it and when we do we can handle our children trying to commit suicide. We will grieve, but we will survive, and we will be able to do His will. We can live with "immature, self-absorbed and unmotivated teens and young adults". I know they are responsible for their actions, not me. I am responsible for my actions and my heart. I accept His hedge around me and mine. (Ps 34:7) - PJ
GOBBLE, GOBBLE, GOBBLE HAVE A GOOD ONE.
Man, I am getting old. I would never be this corny before.
At least I didn't put a smiley face on my signature.
