GOLF WITH
A PURPOSE
The time has come for our 100 holes of fun
in the sun to help the homeless, abused and the working poor get
out of the “Sand Trap” of poverty and despair. Now in its 15th
year, the “Open Door for Teens Annual Golf Marathon” is a
fun-filled, challenging day for 15 - 20 avid and not so avid but
adventurous, dedicated golfers!
Each golfer collects pledges from friends, families and business
associates in order to reach his/her goal. (We encourage each
golfer to raise at least $2,500.) Some golfers have raised
$6,000 to $8,000 and some only hundreds of dollars. We welcome
all who choose to support our needy teens and young adults and
our counseling ministries. Every dollar adds to the next and
adds up to sizable contributions.
We own the course for the day and you will have plenty of room
for those long drives and playing through with out obstacles to
get the 100 plus holes played.
The entry fee is $100.00 (we are flexible on this if you are
raising pledges) plus pledges per hole or flat amounts raised
from friends, family, and business associates. Please reserve
your spot in this year’s Marathon today by calling us to
R.S.V.P.
Open Door for Teens, Inc. raises all its funds from the private
sector, and relies upon contributions from individual donors,
non-profit organizations, and businesses as its primary source
of financial support. In the Marathon golfers ask friends,
family members, and business associates to sponsor them as they
play. We’ve found that, rather than rallying to a faceless
cause, “people support people,” so, in this method of raising
funds, there’s a very high response rate.
The 100-Hole Golf Marathon is an individual scramble format with
a shotgun start (all players tee off on different holes).
The actual playing of the marathon is simple: each player plays
their own ball (ergo, the individual scramble format); each
player hits two shots from the tee until the ball is holed out.
Players will actually complete 50 holes. Because they are
playing two shots from each location, this qualifies officially
as a 100-Hole Marathon.
This format is not overly demanding and, the way it’s designed;
almost anyone can complete the event. It’s not necessary to be
an avid golfer. Age also should not be an issue as long as you
are young at heart and like to have fun.
Thank you for considering playing and raising funds to support
our ministry.
Yours in service together with Christ for the community,
Paul J. Keenon, Executive Director

Keep 2Cor 9:6-15 in mind as you consider your role in fund raising.
Also, consider the opportunity you give to your friends to help the work
of the Lord and the rescue of teens and their families from despair.
